The Staff Selection Commission has released SSC CPO Syllabus 2026 and Exam Pattern for 1871 vacancies. The CPO SI syllabus includes General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. The Paper-I will be conducted for 1 hour duration and Paper-II is of 2 hours with sectional time limits for the papers. SSC CPO Selection Process 2026
The SSC CPO SI selection process includes various stages to assess the candidates on the basis of their performance, physical fitness and medical fitness. Candidates have to qualify in each stage to move on to the next stage of the recruitment process.
- Paper-I
- Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET)

SSC CPO Exam Pattern 2026
The Staff Selection Commission has revised the SSC CPO Exam Pattern in the recent notification. The examination will be conducted in CBT for both Paper-I and Paper-II. The Paper I contains 100 questions for 100 marks and Paper II contains 160 questions for 320 marks. Candidates must be aware of the section-wise distribution of questions, exam duration, sectional timing and negative marking.
SSC CPO Paper-I Exam Pattern
The Paper-I is divided into four sections, i.e. General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. Each section has 25 questions each of 25 marks making 100 questions of 100 marks in all.
- The paper has been reduced from 200 questions and 200 marks to 100 questions and 100 marks.
- Each section now contains 25 questions for 25 marks.
- A 15-minute sectional timer has been introduced for every section.
- The complete paper is to be attempted within 60 minutes.
- SSC may apply normalisation of marks where required.
- A deduction of 0.25 marks will be made for each incorrect answer in Paper-I.

SSC CPO Exam Pattern for Paper II
The Paper-II is conducted for candidates who qualify for the next stage as per the prescribed requirements. The paper consists of General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension with a higher difficulty level than Paper I. A negative marking of 0.50 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

SSC CPO Physical Standard Test (PST) 2026
Candidates who qualify in Paper-I are required to appear for the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET). The physical standards differ for male and female candidates and certain categories receive prescribed relaxations.

SSC CPO Medical Examination 2026
Candidates who qualify in the required stages must meet the prescribed medical standards. The medical examination checks general physical fitness as well as vision and certain physical conditions.
- Near Vision: N6 in the better eye and N9 in the worse eye.
- Distant Vision: 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye.
- Candidates should not have knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins or squint eyes.
- The prescribed eye standards should be met without visual correction, including spectacles.
