The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is all set to release the detailed RRB Group D Notification for the 2026 recruitment on 30th January 2026. Earlier the board issued a short notice for application dates. To apply for RRB Group D Recruitment 2026, candidates must be between 18 and 33 years old. It is to be noted that the minimum educational qualification required for RRB Group D is 10th pass, ITI, or an equivalent qualification.

Candidates can also apply if they have a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT, as per RRB's official guidelines (Letter No. E(NG)II/2017/RR-II/12 dated 14.06.2019). Candidates who have have successfully passed 10th or ITI or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT are considered eligible.

  • The RRB Group D age limit is 18-33 years.
  • Candidates must present original documents at the time of RRB Group D document verification.

  • Nationality: An applicant must be an Indian citizen.
  • Age Limit: He/she must fall within the prescribed minimum and maximum
  • age limit set by RRB.
  • Educational Qualification: Minimum qualification is usually 10th pass or ITI from a recognized board or institute.
  • Medical Standards: Candidates must meet the required medical and physical fitness standards.
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates must qualify PET as part of the selection process.
  • Number of Attempts: There is no limit on the number of attempts, as long as eligibility conditions are met.

RRB Group D Nationality/Citizenship

 As  per the RRB Group D eligibility, a candidate must be either:

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A subject of Nepal, or
  3. A subject of Bhutan, or
  4. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note- The candidates belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

RRB Group D Age Limit

RRB Group D exam age limit is decided by the candidate’s category. For UR and EWS candidates, the date of birth should be between 02 January 1989 and 01 January 2007. For OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, the date of birth should be between 02 January 1986 and 01 January 2007. For SC and ST candidates, the date of birth should be between 02 January 1984 and 01 January 2007. The minimum age required to apply is 18 years. The maximum age limit is 33 years for general category candidates, while age relaxation is given to reserved categories as per government rules.

Course Completed Act Apprentices applying for the posts for which minimum qualification is ITI/Course Completed Act Apprenticeship.

Shall be relaxed to the extent of Apprentice Training undergone by them under the Apprentice Act 1961.

Candidates who are Course Completed Act Apprentice under the Apprenticeship Act before attaining the age of 25 years of UR Category

RRB Group D Educational Qualification

The RRB Group D Eligibility requirements state that the applicants must have passed class10th pass and completed  either of the following:

  • 10th pass or ITI or equivalent qualification
  • National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT

RRB Group D Physical Test

The RRB Group D selection is also based on a Physical Efficiency Test. During this test, the physical endurance of candidates is assessed. Details of the RRB Group D PET are summarised in the following table.

You should be able to run for a distance of 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

PWD

Persons with Disabilities are exempted from appearing in PET.

After qualifying in the CBT, such candidates will have to pass the medical examination prescribed for Persons with Disabilities.

  • CCAAs from any trade trained in Railway establishments are eligible.
  • Only those with a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) can apply.
